On Wednesday June 11, 2008, Networking For Professionals, a national networking organization, held it’s monthly “Shakers and Stirrers” business mixer at Oscar Taylor’s Restaurant in Phoenix, AZ.

Over eighty people attended this months’ event. Attendees were comprised mostly of established professionals in areas such as law, accounting, marketing, real estate and finance, although the event also attracted some entrepreneurial types and small businesses. Guests and members enjoyed complimentary appetizers and more importantly the opportunity to meet other professionals, in the hope of making quality business connections.

After the event, people who had registered online received the list of attendees by email. “After all NFP events we send out the list of attendees to help professionals follow up with their new contacts. Follow up, after all, is key to successful networking!” says co-founder of “Networking For Professionals”, Amanda Nissman.

The event proved to be another hit following a hugely successful launch event in Phoenix last month. Hosts Armand Smith and Jennifer Shaw were instrumental in getting the word out there about NFP’s launch in Phoenix.

As membership in Phoenix is still free during this start up phase, professionals are telling their friends, contacts and co-workers to sign up online now. NFP members get to post a professional profile on the web site and can network with others online at their own convenience. Members also receive discounts to events.

Since its inception in 2002, NFP has depended on “word of mouth” marketing, which is testimony to its effectiveness and success as a forum for professionals to network - both online and face-to-face.
